The European Landowners’ Organization and Syngenta came together in 2008 to create a new, open and inclusive place in Europe where all stakeholders interested in contributing to a more sustainable agriculture system could come together to debate and share knowledge and expertise on how this could be achieved. They remain committed to that goal and have now invited other organisations to join and help take forward the Forum for the Future of Agriculture on the next phase of its journey.
The Forum for the Future of Agriculture (ForumforAg) is now established as the premiere meeting place in Brussels to debate sustainable agriculture and environmental challenges, and one of the leading international forums committed to help building a more resilient, sustainable, climate-smart and nature positive food and agriculture system.
The Forum is where agriculture and environment meet for an open dialogue at our Annual Conference and other events throughout the year. To achieve this goal, the Forum and its partners announced a ‘Call to Action’ in March 2023 which included a series of commitments, to support the transformation of the agri-food system in Europe and beyond.

‘Finding Common Ground in a Divided World’ explores how global agriculture can remain both sustainable, resilient and profitable amid profound geopolitical, economic, and environmental change. Developed by the Global Forum on Farm Policy and Innovation (GFFPI) – a collaboration between leading agricultural think tanks from Australia, Canada, the European Union, and the United States includign the Forum for the Future of Agriculture – the paper brings together diverse perspectives to inform constructive dialogue on the future of food and farm policy.
Our Annual Conference brought together a wide range of interested parties, both in the room and online, to explore new frontiers for agri-food system transformation.

At the start of the day former astronaut Mike Massimino highlighted the importance of uniting against the common challenges that our planet faces. The day then progressed with discussions on those major challenges with a wide range of views being represented by investment leaders, policy makers, the farming community and those from the industry and food supply chain. Overall, everyone agreed that we need to move towards a more resilient, profitable, and nature-positive food system or as it was expressed in one session “Make Earth great again!”
We ended the day with another explorer, Fred Buyle, who inspired us with his love for the oceans and explained how, as humans, we and our agriculture are all connected to the deep blue.
The Forum for the Future of Agriculture is thrilled to welcome three new Supporting Partners – Arla, Mars and The Landbanking Group. You can find out more by clicking here.
